Odisha Livestock Resources Development Society (OLRDS)
Odisha Livestock Resources Development Society (OLRDS) is a Government Society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 with Registration No. 21074/213 dated 25.10.2000. The Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government of Odisha, Fisheries & Animal Resources Development (F&ARD) Department serves as the President of the Society, while the Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Odisha functions as the Vice-President. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) acts as the Member Secretary of OLRDS.
OLRDS was established with the objective of strengthening the rural economy and generating employment opportunities through the development of the livestock sector. In accordance with the decision of the Government of India to implement the National Project for Cattle and Buffalo Breeding (NPCBB) during the 9th Five Year Plan, the Government of Odisha constituted OLRDS as the State Implementing Agency to ensure timely and effective implementation of the programme in the State.
At present, OLRDS is responsible for implementing several Centrally Sponsored Schemes, including the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), Livestock Insurance and Risk Management components under the National Livestock Mission (NLM), National Digital Livestock Mission (NDLM), and the Accredited Agent for Health and Extension of Livestock Production (A-HELP) initiative, along with various State Plan Schemes of the Government of Odisha.
The Society focuses on expanding the coverage of breedable bovine population under organised breeding programmes, strengthening doorstep delivery of Artificial Insemination (AI) services, and ensuring effective implementation of livestock development programmes through a dedicated State-level implementing agency.
