Organization of Regional Review Meeting on Animal Husbandry and Dairy Sector for Eastern States and Monsoon Meet 2024 of DAHD, Govt. of India
The Regional Review Meeting of Eastern States involving Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Andaman Nicobar & Odisha of Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Govt. of India was held at Hotel Vivanta, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 12th September 2024.
It was aimed to review the various schemes implemented by DAHD, GoI and to discuss strategies, challenges and opportunities in animal husbandry and dairying sector. The meeting was chaired by the Union Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Smt. Alka Upadhyaya. Senior officers from Animal Husbandry Departments of the participating States Govt. of India and NDDB deliberated on promoting synergies for growth and development of the sector.
On 12th September 2024 at 8PM one gala dinner was hosted by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Sj. Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Union Ministers of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, GoI , Ministers of Animal Husbandry & Dairying from 15 States, Principal Secretaries of Animal husbandry and Dairying Departments from States and dignitaries attending the Monsoon Meet 2024. Cultural events depicting Odisha’s rich culture was organized by the Department Culture, Govt. of Odisha at Hotel Vivanta for this purpose.
On 13th September 2024 Monsoon Meeting was organized by DAHD, GoI under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Union Minister of Dept. of Animal Husbandry & Dairying GoI, Shri Rajib Ranjan Singh Alias Lalan Singh. Hon’ble Minister of State Prof. S.P.Singh Baghel and Hon’ble Minister of State Shri George Kurian attended the meeting at Convention Centre, Lokseva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Sj.Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Minister of State, FARD Department Sj.Gokulananda Mallick and Hon’ble Chief Secretary , Govt. of Odisha Shri Manoj Ahuja, IAS graced the occasion. Besides 15 Hon’ble Ministers of Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying from different States attended the meeting. Different issues pertaining to implementation of GoI schemes by department & future roadmap for further development of Animal Husbandry Sector with State Animal Husbandry Ministers were discussed in the Monson Meet 2024.
BRAINSTORMING WORKSHOP ON STREAMLINING THE LIVESTOCK INSURANCE SCHEME HELD ON 26.04.24 AT 11.00 AM AT OLRDS CONFERENCE HALL
A brainstorming workshop was organized on “Streamlining the Livestock Insurance Scheme” under the Chairmanship of the Chief Executive Officer, OLRDS on 26.04.24 at 11.00 AM at OLRDS Conference Hall, Bhubaneswar involving insurance companies, brokers, officials from F&ARD, Deptt., Directorate, OLRDS, field institutions and LEAP Team.
The aim and objectives of the workshop as to prepare strategies for smooth implementation of the LIS, for digitalization of the Scheme for more reliability, transparency and monitoring proper convergence and co-ordination among different stake holders involved in the process and to sort out the issues faced at field level and insurance company level.
Role of Insurance Brokers/Intermediaries on LIS implemented by them in other States like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jharkhand presented by Amaze Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd, Salasar Services (Insurance Brokers) Pvt. Ltd.
Further, Dvara E Registry and ICICI Lombard Rural Insurance came up with the new technologies like Muzzle Identification and RFID Techniques respectively and gave their short presentations and described how their services can be helpful in unique identification of the animal and monitoring of the Scheme.
INTERFACE MEET 2024
An Interface meeting on “Characterization and Documentation of Animal Genetic Resources (AnGR) of Odisha” was organised on 26.09.2024 at the Convention Centre, Lokseva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar under the Chairmanship of Dr. Bishnu Prasad Mishra, Director NBAGR, Karnal, Haryana.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss on the status of registered and unregistered Animal Genetic Resources (AnGR) of Odisha, strategies for survey and characterization of AnGR of Odisha.
Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) Department of F&ARD and MSME, Shri. Gokulananda Mallik, Principal Secretary F&ARD , Govt. of Odisha Shri Suresh Kumar Vashishth, IAS, Director of AH & VS., Sh. Ramashis Hazra, IAS, Eminent Scientists from NBAGR and College of Veterinary Science & A.H., OUAT, Chief Executive Officer, OLRDS Dr.Hadibandhu Bhoi, CDVOs, Veterinary Officers working in the native tract of AnGR of Odisha, VOTI, Directorate and Govt. in FARD Dept., representatives from Breeder Societies attended the meeting.

The Principal Scientist NBAGR Dr.Bishnu Prasad Mishra, Prof. Dr.Sushanta Kumar Das, Dean of Research OUAT and Dr.Bina Mishra, Senior Scientist NBAGR were felicitated by Hon’ble Minister Shri Gokulananda Mallik.
State Level Workshop on Livestock Insurance-
A state level workshop was organized on 24.01.25 involving the CDVOs, District Nodal Officers from the Departments, Insurance Company and district nodal co-coordinators of Insurance Intermediaries besides officers from OLRDS, DAH & VS & F & ARD department for proper coordination, monitoring and implementation of the Livestock Insurance in the Scheme in the State.

A Regional Review Meeting on Animal Husbandry and Dairy Sector for eastern states involving Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh & Odisha was organized under the Chairmanship of the Secretary (AHD), Government of India on 24.08.23 at Hotel Vivanta, Bhubaneswar. In addition to the review a workshop on Disease surveillance including Genomic surveillance for early warning system and Disease forecasting was conducted.
To orient the departmental staffs and other stakeholders meetings and workshops are conducted at periodic intervals to disseminate the various developmental plans and programmers.
